About PAC and Respite

Treatment Modality: Respite Services are designed to provide temporary relief to caregivers. Staff may assist individuals in the improvement and retention of skills necessary to be as independent as possible in their daily lives. Meaningful Day Services provides direct supervision as well as training to individuals to increase independence. We are here to focus on the needs of your loved one and to help improve their lives daily.

Populations Served: MDS provides respite and participant assistance and care (PAC) services to children and adults with developmental disabilities. There is no age restriction for these services.

Setting for Services: Staff providing respite or participant assistance and care services may do so in the home and in the community. The location in which services take place is individualized to meet the needs of the client.

Hours of Service: Respite and PAC services typically take place during regular business hours Monday through Friday, however based on the clients' needs, staff may work outside of these hours. Services may also be provided on the weekends.

Frequency of Services: Frequency of services is determined by the individual and their team. It is based on the individual's needs, goals and budget. It is recommended, for consistency and progress, that client’s receive services at least 1 time per week.

Payers and Funding Sources: Respite and PAC services are typically funded through the Medicaid Waiver, however private pay options are also available.

Fees: The service rates are based on the funding source. Private pay rates are available as well.

Referral Sources: Most referrals come through word of mouth, current clients and families, and case managers. The Medicaid Waiver utilizes a "pick list" which identifies providers within a geographic area.

Credentialing of Staff: All staff are required to pass a criminal background check as well as a driving record check. All staff are CPR/First Aid certified and have been trained in Handle with Care.

All individuals referred for services through MDS, Inc. receive a full assessment designed to evaluate the needs and strengths of the individual. Recommendations are reviewed by the individual and his/her interdisciplinary team. Areas of skill development or supervision may include any or all of the following:
