Lynn Bunnell has been a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist for over thirty years. She has a Master’s Degree in Adult Education and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Therapeutic Recreation and a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Psychology. She was a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor in Illinois for over 30 years. She has worked in a variety of settings including; long term care, inpatient and partial hospital mental health and chemical dependency programs, and community programs with participants across the lifespan. She is the author of the book, “Strategies Using Art for Self-Reflection, Reproducible Worksheets for Teens and Adults,” published by Wellness Reproductions. Lynn was also an Activities Consultant for long term care communities in Illinois and was the lead instructor for the 36 hour Activity Director Course offered at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. She enjoys teaching adults and has presented on a variety of topics at numerous conferences. Lynn also has enjoying supervising Recreational therapy students from a variety of universities.
Lynn was born and raised in Chicago – two blocks from Wrigley Field. She is of course a Cub fan! Her two adult children were raised in the western suburbs of Chicago and live there currently with their families. She recently moved to the Avilla area last year as her husband is a pastor in Kendallville, Indiana.
Lynn enjoys walks on the beach and watching sunsets in Michigan, conversation, all types of games, swimming, riding her bicycle, taking photos, traveling, using her creativity and eating chocolate! She does miss the Chicago deep dish pizza she grew up with.
Lynn is excited to have this opportunity to work for MDS in Indiana with clients in their homes and communities to help them be as independent as possible and enjoy life!
