Heather Potter, CTRS

Recreational Therapist

I started my career as a CTRS working for Tendercare, in Clare, Michigan, as a dementia unit director, providing social services and therapeutic recreation services to 23 older adults, in May 2011. I followed that position working as the Life Enrichment Director for Brookdale Senior Living in Midland, Michigan in October 2011. I planned, helped implement, and supervised staff in providing 40 residents in both memory care and assisted living settings. Starting in July 2012, I worked for four years as a CTRS for MidMichigan Medical Center, in Alma, Michigan, on the acute psychiatric care unit, which provided psychiatric care for adults with mental illness as well as older adults with dementia diagnoses. I have been working for Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky since October 2016, as part of the Home Based Primary Care department, providing recreational therapy to Veterans who are home-bound. I joined Meaningful Day Services for the opportunity to pursue my interest in working with individuals with developmental disabilities, after finding enjoyment in it while completing service hours towards my Bachelor’s degree. I currently reside in Louisville, Kentucky, with my boyfriend, Steve, and our two cats, Phoebe and Genghis Kahn.
