Dr. Armstrong completed her APA Accredited Pre-doctoral Internship at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System in Temple, Texas. During her internship she worked primarily with veterans and their families as well as military reservists in the Fort Hood Army Base region. She maintains her military interests in her home community through specific training she has received through Star Behavioral Health Providers which is designed to connect civilian mental health providers with veteran and current military personnel.
She received post-doctoral supervision in the areas of Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities and continues her interests in these areas. She has worked in VA medical centers, hospitals, university based clinics, college counseling centers, and community mental health centers. Dr. Armstrong has been a part of the Meaningful Day Services, Inc. team since 2011. She provides both counseling and behavioral consultation services to adults, adolescents, and families.
Dr. Armstrong's training includes individual and group psychotherapy for the treatment of a variety of psychiatric, behavioral, stress-related, and adjustment conditions. She is experienced in psychodiagnostic assessments. Her methods of treatment most often include cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal approaches. However, individualized assessment and client-centered treatment are always provided based on the client's needs and strengths.
Dr. Armstrong enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs. She also loves camping, music, and crafting.
