My name is Emily Whittaker, and I am originally from the Mohawk Valley in central upstate New York. I grew up in a musical family, and have long hoped to use my music to help serve others. In 2000 I graduated from Houghton College with a B.S. in music education. Since then I have worked in multiple settings in the human services field, including schools, group homes, nursing homes, churches, and summer camps. I've also entertained at restaurants and played for many weddings. In 2010 I enrolled in the music therapy equivalency master's program at SUNY New Paltz. I completed my fieldwork at Ulster Neighborhood Center and interned at Health Alliance Hospital and the Northeast Center for Special Care in the Kingston, NY region. After achieving my board-certification in April 2013, I successfully defended my thesis and graduated in May 2013. I am happy to be working for MDS in the Kokomo area.
