Alex Nelson grew up in the midwest and the east coast in New Jersey, but considered Lawrence, KS home. She studied music therapy at the University of Kansas and completed her internship at Easter Seals Midwest Autism Services. During her internship she learned about sensory processing and neurologic music therapy techniques. She is conversation in American Sign Language and enjoys using it to encourage communication. To her, the most exciting thing about the music therapy process is seeing the little pieces of progress come together to form the big puzzle picture of success.
When not leading sessions, Alex enjoys knitting, baking/cooking, crafting, going on walks, playing the flute, piccolo, or trombone, working with animals, and playing or watching Chicago or Kansas City sports teams.
